Summer Associate Program

Our Summer Program provides students interested in the opportunity to do substantive work in a variety of practice areas. Summer associates can rotate among practice teams with a hiring need for which they have the required technical skills. Summer associates also participate in three progress evaluations to review attorney feedback on all work product. The Summer Committee members in each office serve as mentors for the course of the program: providing guidance for evaluations, assigning work, coaching associates as they rotate teams and ensuring a positive work/life balance.

$4,327 in our California, Colorado, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Washington DC, and Washington state (IP) offices

 

$3,942 in our Arizona, Illinois, Texas and Washington state (non-IP) offices

Kilpatrick was one of four finalists for the second annual Facebook Diversity Champion Award. Kilpatrick was recognized for its dedication to diversity as exemplified by how the firm staffs its Facebook matters, provides leadership opportunities for its attorneys, and for having a robust diversity program.

Lawyers of Color (LoC) recognized Kilpatrick with its Aspire Diversity Award. The designation recognizes law firms that meet diversity criteria regarding the percentage of Black lawyers, the number of attorneys of color in firm leadership positions, and the number staff members whose titles include the designation of “equity,” “diversity,” or “inclusion.” (February 2023)

Kilpatrick is seeking students with an interest in trademark/copyright litigation & counseling, corporate transactions, litigation, patent litigation or patent prosecution. 

Excellent academic record (top 20%) required; Leadership roles in extracurricular activities preferred.

For Patent Prosecution roles, technical backgrounds in engineering and science (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or advanced degrees in Biology, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry) are required.
